Fantastic endurance from Tablers

March 11th, 2010 Comments Off

On Saturday 6th March, 3 teams of highly trained Watford Round Table drivers took on the rest of Hertfordshire in the Poppy Appeal Scalextric 1 Hour Endurance Race of the Year. We really showed them too with a 3rd place, 11th place and a 13th place out of 13 teams! The certificates are attached for those that entered and laps driven are shown below.

Perhaps we could have organised ourselves into more even strength teams but, heh, that would assume someone was organising things? Teams were:

Session 1 team 1 – Mark Davis and Tim Wood – a 911 owner and a non-car owner – pretty pathetic performance in 11th place for our top team. It seems the 911 kept breaking down on the corners.

Session 1 team 2 – Edward and Harrison Baldwin – a really crack team that we had high hopes for but these were dashed when it became apparent that the track was a bit too high off the ground and Harrison couldn’t see his car for the first race. Also, a small squabble and some fighting in the 5th race cost them a few laps.

Session 1 team 3 – Tim Baldwin and Peter Taylor – we thought we had the winning team here but unfortunately they got thrashed by two teams from the Rickmansworth Brownie pack.

It was a great day and I recommend it to you all for next year.
